Promoted as champions from the second division in 2017, the Magpies have remained in the Premier League ever since, with their lowest finish in that time being two 13th-place results. Newcastle have contested at the top of the table numerous times, notably under boss Kevin Keegan, though are yet to lift the Premier League trophy.

Last season:

Last campaign was a historic one overseen by manager Eddie Howe, with the Tyneside outfit winning their first domestic honour in 70 years as they lifted the EFL Cup. In the league, the Magpies finished fifth to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

One to watch:

In 42 matches across all competitions last term, striker Alexander Isak was involved in 33 goals, scoring 27 and assisting six. Since transferring from La Liga side Real Sociedad, the Swedish striker has been a revelation in the North East with his pace, trickery and deadly finishing.
