Newcastle United are planning their next move in the summer transfer window as they aim to build on the momentum of a superb campaign.
Eddie Howe’s side are already Carabao Cup champions and are chasing a top-four finish after dismantling Manchester United 4-1 at St. James’ Park. With the club pushing forward both on and off the pitch, fresh targets are now being assessed to strengthen key areas.
A new winger is high on the priority list — and one name in particular has caught Newcastle’s attention.
According to Caught Offside, Marseille forward Luis Henrique is being closely monitored after an excellent season in Ligue 1. The Brazilian has nine goals and eight assists to his name this term, and his form has alerted several top clubs across Europe.
That includes Bayern Munich, who have already stepped up their pursuit. Head coach Vincent Kompany and sporting director Christoph Freund were both present during Marseille’s recent clash with Paris Saint-Germain to watch Henrique in action.
Talks between Henrique’s representatives and Bayern have already begun, with discussions now focused on the potential financial structure of the deal. Bayern view the 22-year-old as a long-term replacement for one of Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, or Leroy Sané. Coman has been linked with a Premier League switch this summer, with Arsenal reportedly keen.
But it is not a one-horse race. Luis Henrique to Newcastle is very much on the table.
Newcastle news suggests the club are impressed by Henrique’s versatility, work rate, and ability to create from both flanks. Sources indicate that United have made initial contact and are preparing to step in more decisively once their summer budget is finalised.
Other Premier League sides — including Wolves, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest — have also shown interest, but none of those clubs can match Newcastle’s current appeal, European ambitions, or financial firepower.
Serie A side Inter Milan are another major player in the chase. They have reportedly submitted a five-year offer and a €25 million bid. However, Marseille are holding out for closer to €30–35 million, which may hand clubs like Newcastle or Bayern the advantage.
