Amid a number of transfer rumours, the chance that Jorrel Hato and Kenneth Taylor will stay at Ajax is much bigger than Jordan Henderson and Brian Brobbey. The striker in particular seems ready for a new adventure, reports club expert Johan Inan of the Algemeen Dagblad.
Inan spoke to Brobbey for a possible championship special. However, “that ended up in the trash, but in that he also more or less indicated that it was time for a new environment. He was strongly considering that. And as we know, Ajax are also open to a transfer of Brobbey.
“They would prefer to sell him, because he has an old and expensive contract,” the AD journalist said in the newspaper’s football podcast.
According to Inan, Ajax are busy composing the selection for next season. “You can divide it into different categories. Out of the mainstays (or starters) with Brobbey, Henderson, Taylor, Hato and Sutalo. A few months ago, they all seemed to be on the list to leave. I expect Henderson and Brobbey to leave, but with Hato and Taylor, it is now a bit more nuanced.”
“Hato has indicated: a really good club has to come along. I really have to like the project, otherwise I can decide to stay at Ajax for another year. That doesn’t have to be bad for my development at all.” The same applies to Taylor, more or less, the midfielder told the AD. “He is very picky and would have no problem staying for another year.”
There are transfer agreements between Taylor and the club. “If Ajax would reach the Champions League, he would be allowed to leave, and the club would cooperate. But technical director Alex Kroes has also indicated that they do not mind at all if Taylor, who they consider to be the best player of the past season, stays in Amsterdam for another year.”
“A few will have to leave anyway. That was also the discussion with Francesco Farioli, who actually thought that they should all stay. They have secured tens of millions in Champions League income, but they still have to sell players.”
