After the conclusion of a disastrous campaign, Manchester United will now focus on a squad rebuild with plenty of big-name stars expected to let go, including Alejandro Garnacho.

The Argentine was not pleased to find himself on the bench for the Europa League final last week, and after the defeat, the 20-year-old made his displeasure known in his interviews in the mixed zone.

Ruben Amorim and the attacker have not always seen eye-to-eye with fallouts occuring between the pair before the Manchester derby and after the Ipswich Town game.

Both times, the pair made up but after the latest infraction, Amorim seemed to have had enough and instructed the Argentina international to find a new club in the summer in front of the whole squad.

While the Carrington graduate would prefer a move to Real Madrid, he has also instructed his agent to speak to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal, something INEOS might not be too pleased about.

As per i News, Napoli, who failed to acquire his signature in January, are expected to hold talks with Garnacho’s camp this week.

They had failed with a £40 million bid in the winter, with the Red Devils holding out for £60 million. But given INEOS’ desperation to raise money, the ex-Atletico Madrid academy ace could be let go for £50 million.

Chelsea are also interested in the United No.17 but the Serie A champions are leading the chase at the minute.

“Alejandro Garnacho is heading for a quick and rather acrimonious Manchester United departure, with Napoli planning to hold talks with player and club this week.

Price compromise on the cards for Alejandro Garnacho

“The i Paper understands Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna is set to meet with United officials to begin the negotiation process, having tried and failed with a £40m transfer in the January transfer window.

“United rejected Napoli’s advances earlier this year after demanding closer to £60m. While Napoli are not expected to match United’s previous valuation, several sources close to the potential deal believe a compromise around the £50 mark can be found, given the latter’s need to sell players to fund Amorim’s squad rebuild.

“Chelsea are also understood to be targeting Garnacho having also enquired in January. However, the Serie A champions remain very much in the driving seat, given they are more advanced in their interest.”

Antonio Conte’s future could potentially derail the deal. It will be interesting to see where Garnacho ends up moving to. For now, he is part of the post-season Asia Tour squad and is likely to play for the club there for the last time.
