Napoli are in pole position to sign Lorenzo Lucca after reaching a verbal agreement on personal terms with the Udinese striker (h/t journalist Gianluca Di Marzio).

The transfer race for Lucca has been heating up in this summer transfer window, with Inter Milan, Juventus and Roma keen on signing him.

However, Napoli have won the battle, with the Italian striker giving the green light to a transfer to the Diego Maradona Stadium.

The Serie A Champions will now work out a deal with Udinese, who value Lucca at around €30 million.

Lucca established himself as one of the best centre-forwards in Serie A last season, bagging 14 goals and two assists for Udinese.

His impressive performances also led to his Italy debut last year. He has earned five international caps and was part of the Azzurri squad for the recent international break this month.

The 24-year-old can be an ideal back-up to Napoli’s star striker Romelu Lukaku or compete with him for the starting spot.

The Partenopei have made their mark in the transfer market with the marquee signing of Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer.

The Serie A giants are in the market for a top-class winger, shortlisting Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, Real Betis’ Jesus Rodriguez and Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez as top targets.

They have also initiated talks for the potential signing of RB Leipzig forward Antonio Nusa and are closing in on the signing of Bologna centre-back Sam Beukema.
