Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged by the Football Association with breaching doping regulations.

The Chelsea winger has not played at all since November last year, when he was provisionally suspended by the FA having tested positive for a banned substance.

The Ukrainian provided a positive ‘A’ sample that was believed to contain the performance-enhancing drug meldonium, and he and his club were waiting for the results of a ‘B’ sample that he submitted afterwards.

Now, the FA have brought a charge against the 24-year-old, with an FA spokesperson saying: “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”

Under current FA rules, Mudryk could face a ban of up to four years for a positive drugs test.

The forward posted to his Instagram following his positive test in December that he was “shocked” by the result, and maintained at the time that he had “not done anything wrong”.

Chelsea were approached for comment, but declined to provide one.
