PSG could be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer if they choose not to extend Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract—a possibility that’s already sparked rumors about potential replacements, including a seasoned option from Barcelona.

The club faces a pivotal decision, and the situation hasn’t gone unnoticed. Inter Milan and Manchester United are keeping a close eye, wondering whether Donnarumma remains PSG’s long-term answer in goal.

Donnarumma is under contract through 2026, but interest in the Italian international is picking up. Since arriving from AC Milan in 2021, he’s delivered in big moments, particularly in shootouts and high-stakes matches. Still, his time in Paris hasn’t been flawless.

One moment that continues to follow him is his costly mistake against Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League—a slip that raised questions about his reliability in pressure-packed games.

Now that PSG have finally reached the summit of European football, the focus shifts to the future. Donnarumma’s recent form has reaffirmed his status as the club’s No. 1, but with his contract nearing its final years, the clock is ticking. The pressure is mounting to strike a deal—or risk losing him while top clubs circle.

BILD has linked PSG to Marc-André ter Stegen if he ends up leaving Barcelona. Other clubs reportedly interested in Donnarumma include AC Milan, Manchester City, Juventus, and Newcastle United.

Nonetheless, there’s now another Ligue 1 side keen on the veteran. According to L’Équipe (via AS), AS Monaco have reached out to ter Stegen about a potential move.

Monaco are reportedly unhappy with the performances of Philipp Köhn and Radosław Majecki and is looking to bring in a seasoned goalkeeper to help lead a new chapter in their Champions League campaign.

Ter Stegen could be an appealing option. Monaco would offer him a guaranteed starting role in a relatively low-pressure environment, with the added bonus of Champions League football and close proximity to Barcelona, where his immediate family still lives.

Recently, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea are still exploring options in the goalkeeper market, with Barcelona’s German keeper Marc-André ter Stegen among the names they’re keeping an eye on.

The report also notes, citing sources, that Manchester United have looked into the 33-year-old as they search for a potential replacement for Andre Onana.
