Bayer goes on the offensive for ASM's Moroccan talent.
Eliesse Ben Seghir / AS Monaco
The future of Eliesse Ben Seghir at AS Monaco is growing increasingly uncertain. Hampered by limited playing time and an underwhelming preseason, the 20-year-old Moroccan attacking midfielder has caught the attention of Bayer Leverkusen.
According to reports this weekend, the German club has submitted a €25 million bid to Monaco's management in an attempt to secure the homegrown talent. Despite this move, ASM has yet to respond. The club from the Rock values their gem at nearly €40 million and appears unwilling to let him go easily.
For his part, Ben Seghir would welcome a transfer, convinced that a move abroad could reignite his development after a lackluster season. Under contract until 2027, the Moroccan international made a strong start last year before losing momentum as the season progressed. His cooled relationship with coach Adi Hütter hasn't helped turn things around. Coming off the bench against Le Havre in Ligue 1's opening match, he failed to make a decisive impact, underlining his current struggles.
