With domestic football halted for the first international break of the season, multiple reports regarding the future of Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah began to circulate, with claims from journalists that they hold inside information.

However, agent Ramy Abbas Issa posted a scornful tweet in response to the contract rumours describing the reports as 'absolutely nothing' and 'click-whoring'.

Salah's agent is also his lawyer and advisor and has been the go-to source regarding the 32-year-old. The latest news coming from Abbas Issa is that 'sources' close to the winger don't exist, rubbishing any claims to have surfaced in recent weeks.

The post said: "FYI - all those 'journalists' who imply having 'inside information' about Mohamed's future are making claims/posts based on absolutely nothing. Just click-whoring. 'Sources close to Mohamed' don't exist. This post is really just to tell you that they don't know."

Salah, Van Dijk and Trent expiring contracts

It's been no secret that Salah, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are in the final years of their current Liverpool contracts and pressure is mounting on the club to find solutions to ensure Anfield departures don't come to fruition next summer.

But ever since Salah's media blitz after starring in Liverpool's dominant victory over Manchester United two weeks ago, rumours regarding the forward's future have elevated that little bit more.

It's understood that the usually-reticent Salah made an acknowledgement of it being his 'last year' at Liverpool in order to coax the club into offering their star man a new deal - which is the Egypt international's preference.

“As you know it’s my last year in the club. I just wanna enjoy it, I don’t wanna think about it.

"To be fair I was coming to the game and I said it could be my last time [playing at Old Trafford]. No one in the club has talked to me yet about a contract, so I say it’s my last season and then we’ll see," Salah said on Sky Sports.

Salah continues to shine

The main dilemma the club have with Salah's situation is that any new deal will likely have to match or exceed his current deal money-wise,  with the Egyptian approaching his mid-30s.

However, Salah has yet to show any signs of slowing down as he has started life under Arne Slot as well as we knew him under the legendary Jurgen Klopp.

The Egyptian has already registered three goals and three assists in Liverpool's opening three league games before netting on his 100th Egypt appearance earlier this week.

There is yet to be any sign of deterioration from Liverpool's No11 but the arrival of Federico Chiesa, who operates in a similar role to Salah, could actually be a catalyst in Salah staying rather than being a direct replacement.

Chiesa could help manage Salah's minutes as he continues to age, ensuring his productivity when he does play doesn't dip for as long as possible and maintains maximum sharpness.
