Mo Salah has been branded “selfish” for making public comments over his contract situation at Liverpool by Jamie Carragher.

The Egyptian winger’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but he told reporters after Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton that he is disappointed he has not received “an offer to stay at the club”.

The 32-year-old admitted he is “probably more out than in” while claiming the situation “is not in my hands”.

Salah scored twice at the weekend to hand Liverpool victory at St. Mary’s Stadium and take his tally for the season to 12 goals in all competitions. The Reds are now eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Jamie Carragher slams Mo Salah over ‘selfish’ comments

“I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah,” Carragher told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football. “Liverpool have Real Madrid midweek [in the Champions League] and Man City at the weekend. That’s the story right now.”

The former Liverpool defender added: “If he keeps putting comments out, his agent puts out cryptic messages, that is selfish. That is thinking about themselves and not the football club.”

What did Mo Salah say

“We are almost in December and I haven’t received an offer to stay at the club yet so I am probably more out than in.

“I have been at the club for many years. There is no club like this but in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.

“I love the fans and the fans love me but in the end it is not in my hands or the fans hands.

“I’m not going to retire soon. I’m focusing on the season and I’m trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I’m disappointed but we will see.”
