Lorenzo Torriani made his professional debut for Milan in their 2024-25 Champions League opener against Liverpool at San Siro, replacing the injured Mike Maignan at the beginning of the second half.

The 19-year-old backup goalkeeper had never played a professional game for the Rossoneri before, despite coming through the club’s youth ranks since his childhood.

Torriani got his first call-up for the first team back in May 2024 under Stefano Pioli, but he emerged as one of the most interesting Milan prospects during their pre-season tour in the United States, with some impressive displays against the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

After requiring treatment from his staff twice in the first half, Maignan suffered another blow shortly after the break, and he was forced to leave the pitch in the 51st minute, paving the way for Torriani’s debut.

Torriani entered the pitch with the visitors 2-1 up, with centre-backs Ibrahima Konaté and Virgil Van Dijk both scoring in the opening half to turn things around after Christian Pulisic’s early opener.

Dominik Szoboszlai added a third for Arne Slot’s side later in the second half, but Torriani couldn’t do anything to prevent the midfielder’s shot from ending in the back of the net.
