Milan are expected to have to do without both Rafael Leao and Mattia Gabbia in the starting line-up for Monday evening’s Supercoppa Italiana final against rivals Inter, following Sergio Conceicao’s preparatory training session on Sunday afternoon.
Leao missed the semi-final victory over Juventus and was also ruled out of the Serie A draw against Roma in Milan’s final game of 2024 due to a muscular injury.
Leao was involved in Milan’s training session in Riyadh on Sunday according to updates from TMW. He was spotted doing activation work along with the rest of the first team group.
Despite taking part in some of Sunday’s training session, Leao is still not expected to start in the final against Inter. He could potentially make the bench, but it remains to be seen whether he will be fit enough to be involved at any stage.
Conceicao has a number of options to replace the Portugal international. He could stick with a similar set-up to the semi-final win over Juventus, which would mean another start on the left wing for Alex Jimenez.
TMW suggest that there could be a change in shape to a 4-4-2, with either Tammy Abraham or Christian Pulisic partnering Alvaro Morata up front.
In other news, Gabbia will not be involved at any stage, as he has been ruled out with a bout of flu.
