Serie A heavyweights Milan haven’t given up hope of luring Feyenoord center-forward Santiago Gimenez to Italy this winter. According to Antonio Vitiello, the Rossoneri will table an improved bid for the Mexican after the Dutch side rejected their opening offer.

Milan pitched Feyenoord with a tangible proposal worth around €30 million, including add-ons. However, the former Eredivisie champions rebuffed the Italians’ initial bid. There’s a feeling they want Gimenez to stay at De Kuip for another week.

After a 3-0 rout of Bayern Munich earlier this week, Brian Priske’s men can realistically hope to secure an unlikely top-eight finish in the Champions League’s newly formatted league phase. But to do that, they must beat Lille on the final matchday.

Therefore, Milan may need to wait until Thursday to seal Gimenez’s arrival. The 23-year-old has already agreed upon personal terms with the 19-time Serie A winners, accepting a €3m annual salary at the San Siro.

Furthermore, his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is reportedly pressuring Feyenoord to let her client go. Now, it’s up to Milan to apply sustained pressure. Per Vitiello, Sergio Conceicao’s side could launch a new bid already this weekend.

Gimenez may not be the only attacking reinforcement at the San Siro. Indeed, Milan and Bologna are in talks over Riccardo Orsolini’s move to the Lombard powerhouse. Despite seeing their initial proposal turned down, last season’s Serie A runners-up plot a new offer.
