Serie A side Milan will establish initial contact with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the potential signing of Granit Xhaka.

According to a report by Daniele Longo, Milan sporting director Igli Tare is set to lead contacts with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Granit Xhaka this summer.

The Rossoneri have secured the player’s green light for a transfer following extensive contact with his entourage, and now they must negotiate with the Bundesliga side to finalise the details, including fees.

Milan see Xhaka as a starter for their team, and Tare’s full focus is on signing the Swiss midfielder after landing Luka Modric. Tuesday remains the key day of the week for Milan as they are expected to learn Leverkusen’s demands for the player.

The Rossoneri have several names on their shortlist for the midfield role and Xhaka tops the list. However, if they fail to sign him, the other options will gain traction.
