Milan are about to formalize the arrival of Ardon Jashari after a never-ending negotiation to acquire him from Club Brugge. The Rossoneri sealed the deal with a slight raise. The player had a key role in the whole affair, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Serie A powerhouse put €500k more on the table, bringing its bid to €34M plus €3M add-ons. It proved to be enough because the midfielder made it clear to the Belgian outfit that he wasn’t going to accept any other destination. He had attracted several other tempting offers, including a particularly rich one from Saudi team Neom.
Jashari touched down in Milan on Tuesday night and proceeded with the medicals on Wednesday. He’ll ink a five-year contract with an initial €2M salary. He had been holding out in the last few weeks to force his transfer. He bloomed at Luzern in his home country and confirmed his growth in Belgium, recording 4 goals and 6 assists in 52 games. The youngster has four caps with Switzerland.
The Rossoneri have now completed their midfield overhaul after pocketing €55M for Tijjani Reijnders. Their other additions were Luka Modric on a Bosman move and Samuele Ricci for €23M.
It’s always nice to secure a priority target, and they were patient and determined in never moving on from him despite the frustrating talks. Since they were never going to purchase somebody as good as the Dutchman, as it would have required a mammoth disbursement, the trio they brought in has a nice mix of technique, leadership, and potential. Obviously, they better be right in their assessment, considering they have shelled out an unusually large sum for their standards.
