That's according to a fresh update from Sky Sports, which has detailed a potential battle between West Brom and Luton for the Boro wide-man.

A potential departure from the Riverside Stadium has appeared on the cards for Jones for quite some time now, with the 25-year-old struggling to match the heights of his breakout season in the 2021/22 campaign.

This term has proved particularly difficult for Jones, though, who has made 21 appearances but just eight starts without yet contributing a goal or an assist in league action, with Liverpool loanee Ben Doak often receiving the nod from Michael Carrick.

West Brom, Luton Town advance for Middlesbrough FC's Isaiah Jones

The aforementioned update has revealed the two Championship clubs have both been handed the green-light to enter direct discussions with Jones, who Middlesbrough are open to selling this month.

It's said that the offers in question are believed to be worth up to £5 million if all undisclosed add-on criteria is met, with initial payments coming in at £3 million.

The update also suggests Luton is currently the most likely destination for Jones. However, as exclusively revealed by Football League World on Wednesday morning, the Hatters are set to part ways with under-fire manager Rob Edwards by mutual consent and it's not yet clear how that key development at Kenilworth Road is going to impact a move for Jones.

Last month, Football League World broke the news that Jones is eyeing a departure from Teesside in January, having earned interest elsewhere. The versatile wide player is under contract at Boro until 2027.

Liverpool, Ben Doak situation could impact Isaiah Jones' Middlesbrough exit amid West Brom and Luton Town update

Meanwhile, Doak's situation could also have a bearing on Jones' immediate future. The 19-year-old has flourished on loan from Liverpool, scoring two goals and making six assists in the Championship this season.

However, Scottish international Doak has recently been the subject of bids from Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace, which have both been rejected, along with additional reported interest from Brentford, Fulham and Celtic.

Liverpool are said to intend on having Doak see out the full duration of his loan deal with Middlesbrough, but they have set a £30 million asking price and the prodigious attacker is reportedly believed to be willing to cut his stay short in order to complete a permanent move to a Premier League club.

There are many spinning plates regarding a potential exit for Jones, which is sure to depend upon numerous factors such as Luton's managerial situation and, perhaps even more importantly, whether Doak is recalled this month.

Should that happen, it would be a significant blow for Middlesbrough, who may need to keep Jones until the end of the season.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out in the coming days and weeks, that's for sure.
