Papy Djilobodji is staying in Turkey but making a club switch. The Senegalese defender has signed with Sarıyer SK, a newly promoted club in the second division.
Champions of the third division in 2024-2025, Sarıyer SK will compete in the second tier next season. In a bid to continue their rise, the club has opted to strengthen its squad with experienced players. The latest addition: Papy Djilobodji.
The 36-year-old defender knows Turkish football inside out, having played there since 2019. He has previously donned the colors of Gaziantep FK, Kasimpasa, and Karagümrük.
With Karagümrük, he made 36 appearances (scoring 2 goals and providing 1 assist), helping his team secure promotion to the top flight.
Before arriving in Turkey, the former ASC Saloum player made his mark at Nantes. He also enjoyed spells in England with Chelsea and Sunderland, in Germany with Werder Bremen, and in France with Dijon and EA Guingamp.
