Ibrahima Wadji leaves Saint-Etienne

Ibrahima Wadji is making his return to the Azerbaijan Premier League. Three years after leaving Qarabag FK for AS Saint-Etienne, the Senegalese striker has just signed with Turan Tovuz.
His French adventure didn't unfold as he had hoped. The 30-year-old centre-forward struggled with multiple injuries and ended his spell with Les Verts tallying 13 goals in 51 appearances.
His standout moment remains the goal he scored against Metz in the Ligue 1 Play-off finals last May, deep into extra time—a strike that propelled ASSE back to Ligue 1.
With his contract expiring, the native of Bigogna was not offered a renewal. Free to choose his next destination, he turned down offers from Norway, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus and the Middle East, opting instead to join the fourth-placed team in the Azerbaijan league where he'll look to reignite his career.
Merci à jamais pour les émotions Ibrahima Wadji. 🥹💕 Que ta route soit belle. Comme tu le mérites. 💚–
