Marc Guiu will fly to the North East on Sunday afternoon to complete his move to Sunderland, with a medical expected in the next 24 hours according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Sunderland agreed a loan deal with Chelsea for Guiu earlier this week, who joined the Blues last summer from Barcelona for £5m.

Guiu struggled for regular game time and made just three Premier League appearances, although he did score six goals in seven Conference League games, including a hat-trick against Shamrock Rovers.

Guiu to undergo Sunderland medical in next 24 hours

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens this summer, whilst they are working to sign Xavi Simons, and are also expected to make an offer for Alejandro Garnacho before the end of the window.

With all the attacking signings Guiu has dropped right down the pecking order, and his chances of getting regular minutes at Chelsea are slim to none.

Guiu reportedly turned down a Championship loan, and Sky Sports reported Downie has provided an update on the teenager’s move to Sunderland.

He took to X.com and said:

“EXCL: Marc Guiu will fly into the North East this afternoon to complete his move to Sunderland.

“19yo striker will undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.

“#SAFC have agreed a season-long loan with PL counterparts Chelsea.

“Guiu a recent Club World Cup winner.”

Armando Broja to join Burnley

Guiu isn’t the only striker on his way out, with Armando Broja set to join Premier League new boys Burnley on a permanent deal.

A final fee hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s thought Chelsea could get as much as £20m for the 23-year-old, which would be great business given how little football he’s played over the last couple of seasons.

Broja’s move is expected to be made official early next week, and he would become the third attacker to be sold this summer after Joao Felix and Noni Madueke.
