Olympique de Marseille have been close to reaching an agreement with Racing Club de Lens defender Facundo Medina (26) to bring the Argentinian to the Provence region for next season. Whilst L’Équipe reported that OM boss Roberto De Zerbi was keen to count on the defender to be involved in Marseille’s pre-season preparations in just under a few weeks time – an agreement with the Northern club on a transfer fee has not yet been reached. In fact, according to La Provence, no official bid has yet been made for the Argentine – and that OM are hesitant to meet an outright asking price between 20-€25m. Conversations between Marseille and the player’s entourage are said to be ongoing in a bid to lay the groundwork for a potential move.
The deal could yet prove tricky, with Lens wary of Marseille’s negotiating style after the drawn-out transfer of Jonathan Clauss in 2022 which nearly fell through due to last-minute tensions.GFFN | George Boxall
