Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca hints that the Blues don’t need Alejandro Garnacho and opens up about Joao Felix’s ‘problem’ amid links of a possible move to Milan.
Chelsea’s transfer activities are strictly connected to those of some Serie A clubs.
The Blues defender Renato Veiga is expected to land in Italy in the coming hours to complete a loan move to Juventus, but Maresca, an ex-Bianconeri midfielder, refused to discuss the deal in depth.
“At the moment, he is a Chelsea player and we will see in the next hours,” the Italian said at a press conference on Friday, as quoted by Football London.
Chelsea are also said to be challenging Napoli for Manchester United winger Garnacho, but Maresca hinted that he wouldn’t need a new player in that role.
“No, no, I’m happy with the ones we have in this moment,” he replied, when asked specifically about Garnacho.
“I have said many times, on the right side is Pedro [Neto] and Noni [Madueke] and on the left side is Jadon [Sancho]. Misha [Mudryk] was with us but now he is not with us, Tyrique [George] is a young profile that can help us. In this moment, we are okay.
“We pay attention if something can happen. But at the moment, as you said, there are 10 days to go, and we haven’t done anything. We called back Trev [Chalobah] and we will see in the next 10 days if something is going to happen.”

Last but not least, Joao Felix has been linked with a move to Milan, so Maresca was asked whether the Portuguese talent could leave this month.
“Joao is a Chelsea player. The problem, unfortunately, for Joao and Christo [Nkunku], the manager plays most of the games with one attacking midfielder and that is Cole Palmer,” Maresca replied.
“We have decided to play with an attacking midfielder in most of the games, so this is the reason why Joao and Christo struggle to get minutes – not for any different reasons because they are both fantastic players, fantastic guys who work well.
“The reason why is only because most of the games I decide to play with one attacking midfielder in terms of balance. This is the reason why.”
Does this mean that Joao Felix will leave?
“I am not saying that, I am not saying that. I am saying that I like both but the reason why they struggle is because most of the time I play with one attacking midfielder,” concluded Maresca.
Milan are expected to announce Kyle Walker’s move from Manchester City today and are reportedly considering an offer for Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
