Marco Tilio shares Celtic picture ahead of Rapid departure | OneFootball

Celtic winger Marco Tilio shared a picture of him in the Hoops ahead of a move to Rapid Vienna. The attacker was a second half sub in Celtic’s 4-0 pre-season win over Newcastle United, replacing Yang after the hour mark.

Since being brought on by Brendan Rodgers, Tilio is nearing a Celtic exit with Rapid Vienna close to taking the player to Austria.

Celtic have agreed a €400k loan fee for the 23-year-old but have also inserted an obligation to buy of €1.5m. The fee will be due if Tilio makes 20 competitive starts for Rapid.

Tilio joined Celtic in a deal worth £2m last summer but after just six months, the Australian returned to Melbourne City on a loan deal. The attacker was confirmed to remain with the A-League side for the 2024/25 campaign.

The Australian winger has made just two competitive appearances for Celtic, totalling 28 minutes. It appeared clear that the signing was brought in as a project but the manager was not sold on the winger.

Celtic need to be proactive in the market as they look to strength in the attacking third. Despite the impressive display against Eddie Howe’s Magpies, Celtic require more firepower in attack with further options brought in to challenge the wide players.
