Manchester United’s lowly league position in the Premier League has been largely down the team’s profligacy in front of goal.

Neither Erik ten Hag nor Ruben Amorim have been able to get United firing this season, leaving the club closer to a relegation battle than in the mix for the top four.

Upgrades are certainly required at Old Trafford, particularly given the likelihood of Marcus Rashford and Antony making their loan deals permanent at the end of the season.

As ever, several players are being linked with making the move to Old Trafford and Amorim is desperate to enter his first full season at the club with adequate firepower for a successful campaign.

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is one of the names on Amorim’s shortlist but, as reported by The Mirror, the Englishman is happy with life under Kieran McKenna and he has no plans to move on as things stand.

“It’s engrained in us as footballers. It’s so important, especially for me, to focus on where I’m at now. I’m so happy here, I’m enjoying it so much here. I just look forward to playing football. I take every game as it comes and focus on the next,” he said.

Delap added that he is fully focused on his role with the Tractor Boys, who face a huge fight to stay in the Premier League this season.

“It is something that I try and stay away from. People around me have told me to stay away from it, it’s something that I’m very good at in focusing on what I want to do. That’s playing football here,” he said.

“I’m really enjoying my time here and I enjoy playing every week. That’s the most important thing.”

The 22-year-old has impressed in his first season in England’s top flight, scoring nine goals and proving himself a real handful throughout the campaign.

However, given his lack of experience at the top level, signing the Englishman would be another risk for United, who already have two young strikers who are struggling to fulfil their potential at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee will no doubt be aware of the speculation with regards to United adding to their numbers up top and face a fight to save their respective careers in Manchester.

Delap is just one of a long list of potential suitors ready to step into their boots with Amorim and INEOS expected to be ruthless in the summer given the current state of affairs at the club.
