Manchester United are among the clubs keen on signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz, as per reports.
Last summer, United spent north of £40 million to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG. However, the Uruguayan has divided the opinion of fans over the last 12 months in Manchester.
Ugarte has earned plaudits for his ability to recover possession but he lacks composure with the ball at his feet.
Luis Enrique dropped him from his PSG side due to his lack of technical prowess and Ruben Amorim also showed little trust in his abilities while naming his starting lineup for the Europa League final.
Meanwhile, in the French capital, Enrique has assembled perhaps the best midfield in Europe, and Ruiz has been one of his most reliable players, owing to his ability to connect defence and attack with his ball-carrying and exceptional passing.
A report in France suggests United have now set their sights on the Spanish midfielder.
According to Foot Mercato, United are planning to snatch Ruiz from PSG.
Al-Nassr and a number of other Premier League clubs are also understood to be in the running for the 29-year-old.
However, considering Ruiz’s importance to Enrique’s project, it will be difficult for his suitors to convince the Champions League winners to sell him.
Ruiz was also an integral part of Enrique’s Spain squad and then played a vital role in La Roja’s Euros win under Luis de la Fuente.
It is suggested that PSG want to keep the midfield trio of Ruiz, Joao Neves, and Vitinha intact for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Spain international has two years left to run on his contract at Parc des Princes.
