Erik ten Hag was pictured at a restaurant in Manchester with Sir Alex Ferguson on Tuesday night ahead of Manchester United's titanic tussle with Barcelona.

The Dutchman is already the most popular manager to take over at Old Trafford since the legendary Fergie retired.

David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick all failed to earn the undying loyalty of the Red Devils fan base.

But in just half a season, practically all United fans are convinced that Ten Hag is the future of the club following his impressive campaign so far.

Not only are United looking sure to automatically qualify for the Champions League next season, they also fought out an impressive 2-2 draw with Barcelona at the Camp Nou - and arguably should have won the match too.

The second leg of the tie will take place at Old Trafford on Tuesday. Could it be that Ten Hag was getting some tips from United's iconic boss?

Meanwhile, Pedri will likely be unavailable after picking up an injury and Gavi will be suspended for the game.

For United, Anthony, Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial are potential options for Ten Hag after returning to training this week.

Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek, though, will remain unavailable.
