In a recent report, Goal stated that Manchester United are locked in a three-way battle for Atalanta midfielder Ederson. It has been mentioned that the Red Devils would have to rival Inter Milan and Juventus in the race to land the Brazilian talent in this summer transfer window.

Ederson’s Impressive Form In Brazilian Football

Ederson enjoyed a decent campaign at the Italian club after he produced a series of impressive displays for them in the final third. The Brazilian talent was involved in 49 matches for Atalanta last season, scoring five times and earning two assists in the process across multiple competitions.

The 26-year-old deserves some credit for making 52 tackles, 30 blocks and 35 interceptions in the Serie A. He was even tidy when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 86.5% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

Ederson is under contract at the Italian club until the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Red Devils to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Is Ederson A Decent Fit For Manchester United Boss Ruben Amorim?

Ederson is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and can even make some energetic runs with the ball.

The Brazilian midfield ace can contribute by scoring a few important goals for his team and is a tidy passer of the ball. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if needed.

We can expect Ederson to add more energy and dynamism to Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim’s midfield. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at Old Trafford next season.

At 26, Ederson has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a good fit for the Mancunian club’s needs in the long run. Therefore, it makes sense for Man United to try everything they can to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams before the end of this transfer window.
