Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Latest City team news and predicted City starting lineup

Image de l'article :Manchester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: Latest City team news and predicted City starting lineup

Manchester City begin their 25/26 Premier League campaign today when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux. The match could be a tough test for Pep Guardiola’s side, given how tough Vitor Pereira’s side can be to beat in front of their home support. Wolves were impressive towards the back end of last season. Although they have sold several key players this summer, they have quality in their ranks and will be eager to start a new season on the front foot.

Pep Guardiola and his team do appear reinvigorated ahead of a new season. With new players and new coaches, there is a freshness to the Manchester City set-up this season. How that translates on the pitch is as of yet unknown. Today’s match will provide the first glimpse of a new era at the Etihad.

Here is the latest City team news and my predicted City starting eleven ahead of today’s match.

Latest Manchester City injury and team news.

Pep Guardiola revealed yesterday that several players will miss today’s match due to injury. Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic, and Savinho are all ruled out of today’s match due to injury. Ederson’s availability for the match is doubtful due to the uncertainty surrounding his future at Manchester City. Ederson has been heavily linked with a move to Galatasaray.

Rodri and Phil Foden will travel with the City squad for today’s match. That is good news after the pair weren’t selected in Manchester City’s travelling squad for last weekend’s friendly win over Palermo.

Predicted City starting eleven.

James Trafford: With Ederson’s availability for today’s match in doubt, I expect James Trafford to start in goal for Manchester City today.

Matheus Nunes: Nunes has the opportunity to become Manchester City’s first-choice right-back. I expect him to start against his former team.

Ruben Dias: I’d be surprised if Dias didn’t start today’s match. Pep Guardiola’s side will need leadership at the back, and Dias will likely be required to provide it today.

Abdukodir Khusanov: Khusanov played well against Palermo. I’d like to see him start at Molineux as his pace could be important.

Rayan Ait-Nouri: The Algerian international should start at left-back against his old team.

Nico: With Rodri unlikely to start, that should provide Nico with the opportunity to start in midfield.

Tijjani Reijnders: The Dutch international oozes class and has impressed since arriving at City. There is little doubt that he will start today’s match.

Rayan Cherki: Another player who should make Premier League debut for Manchester City today. Cherki deserves to sstart and could be a potential match winner.

Bernardo Silva: Being Manchester City’s captain it is unlikely that Bernardo Silva won’t start at Molineux. I expect him to start on the right wing and drift into midfield to give Matheus Nunes space to make his overlapping runs.

Jeremy Doku: It’s a toss-up between Doku and Marmoush for the left wing role. I’ll give Doku the nod as I feel he’s been a little bit more impressive than Marmoush during City’s pre-season.

Erling Haaland: Haaland should start and he does enjoy scoring in Manchester City’s opening match of a new season.
