Liverpool might appear to be all-in on Alexander Isak, but other forwards are being considered.

A striker and a winger would ideally be making their way to Anfield this summer, but it appears as though there isn't enough time or money left to secure two high-cost deals. Only one might happen.

On the basis that Hugo Ekitike can play on the left-wing occasionally, and since he's our only available striker, Liverpool are likely to go down the route of signing a new talisman, with Isak the ideal target to come in, although negotiations with Newcastle have stalled over the past few weeks.

The Reds are hopeful that they will eventually get their man, but if it appears impossible for a deal to be reached, then other targets might be looked at, if there is time of course, and Manchester City are now said to be considering a move for a player on Liverpool's shortlist. It would be a huge scalp.

City activate plan to sign Rodrygo

Late on Sunday evening, Fabrizio Romano posted a fresh transfer link that left most readers baffled.

He said: "Tottenham open club to club talks to sign Savinho from Man City. Negotiations ongoing between Spurs and City, also understand Savinho's open to the move if the clubs can agree on fee.

"Tottenham boss Thomas Frank indicated Savinho as ideal player."

A rumour almost from out of nowhere, since the Brazilian is Pep Guardiola's first-choice right-winger, although from time to time we have seen Phil Foden also be utilised in that role when required.

The 21-year-old, who is capable of playing across the forward line, was only signed last season from Troyes for £30.8m, after spending a season on loan at Girona, one of the clubs part of the City Group.

Later on Monday, the journalist revealed that a €50m proposal had been sent across by Spurs, although City are hoping for mor, but Savinho is now keen on the move if the conditions are right.

And now we have a bit more information as to why City would consider letting Savinho go. It's because of some underlying interest in a more polished Brazilian winger in Real Madrid's Rodrygo.

Fabrizio Romano posted to his Youtube channel with the update that City are considering a move for the Galactico once exits for Jack Grealish, James McAtee and Savinho have been confirmed.

In the video, he said: "I can tell you the Manchester City, in an exclusive update, are considering a move for Rodrygo. They believe he could be an ideal option for their attack.

"Is it going to be possible? We will see. Is it going to be expensive? For sure. Is it going to be easy? I don't think so because now it's 20 days to go and we know that financially Real Madrid have always been clear with Rodrygo that if you want to go, we are prepared to open our doors."

The quoted asking price throughout the summer has been €100m (£86.5m) and as mentioned, getting something like this over the line will be difficult given it's now the end of the window.

But if Liverpool decide to pivot towards Rodrygo instead of Isak, then we will now have to compete for his signature, making the likelihood of another forward going to Merseyside that little bit tougher.

Of course, it will be a developing story and anything can happen, as we've just seen with the announcement of this new transfer saga, but it'll be one to keep a close eye on moving forward.
