Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City players are set to be joined on pre-season by one of the Academy’s more senior prospects, new reports have confirmed.

The four-time consecutive Premier League champions will travel to the United States this summer as they embark on a four-game tour of the east coast of the country in preparation for the 2024/25 campaign.

Meetings with Celtic, AC Milan, FC Barcelona, and Premier League rivals Chelsea will act as a crucial opportunity for Manchester City’s stars to build match fitness, and for Pep Guardiola to work closely with and assess some of his younger up and coming prospects.

There is widespread excitement around the opportunity to see Brazil international Savio in the sky blue shirt for the very first time this summer too. But the 20-year-old will not be the only young talent being monitored closely with their immediate future in mind.

The latest report to emerge concerns one of Manchester City’s most highly-rated attacking midfielders to emerge from their Academy system in recent years, but also a name at the centre of transfer interest ahead of his first-team bow with the club this summer.

According to the information of MailSport’s Jack Gaughan, Manchester City’s James McAtee is scheduled to travel with Pep Guardiola and his first-team squad on their pre-season tour of the United States later this month.

It is explained that the current expectation is for Guardiola to take another look at McAtee’s development before a decision is made on the attacking midfielder’s immediate future, with two years remaining on his current Etihad Stadium contract.

The understanding in various quarters is that McAtee is the subject of interest from both within the Premier League, and in various top European leagues with many clubs able to offer him the opportunity of Champions League football next season.

Manchester City’s sister club Girona are understood to be admirers of McAtee and feel as though they could be an ideal temporary home for his development, while there is also watchful eyes from prominent clubs closer to home.

Reports earlier this week indicated that Premier League rivals Chelsea could eye a move for James McAtee, with new Stamford Bridge head coach Enzo Maresca targeting the player whilst Leicester City manager, before the midfielder opted for a Sheffield United return.
