Manchester City are showing a huge sign of faith in highly-rated central defensive talent Vitor Reis during the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Brazil international arrived as part of a hugely significant January market in which Manchester City welcomed four new faces into the club at a stage of the season that had its own difficulties.

Reis joined the club from Brazilian giants Palmeiras, accompanied through the doors by fellow central defender Abdukodir Khusanov, as well as FC Porto’s Nico Gonzalez and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush.

Given the talents of the player, that have already been showcased in the FA Cup last season en route to the final, Manchester City officials have been outspoken in their admiration for the player.

Speaking during his annual end-of-season interview, club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said of Vitor Reis, “Very talented central defender, very versatile. 19, young, but has all the attributes of what we think will be a tremendous player for this club.”

But looking towards the new campaign, there have been question marks as to whether the young defender would be a part of Pep Guardiola’s immediate plans, with some speculating that a temporary exit could be on the cards.

Now, according to the information of journalists Valentin Furlan and Rudy Galletti, Manchester City are not inclined towards loaning out the highly-rated central defender during the ongoing summer transfer window.

It is pointed out that top clubs from Germany, Spain, and England – all of whom remain unnamed – have shown interest in the Brazilian talent, but manager Pep Guardiola currently sees the teenager as part of his plans for the forthcoming season.

The remaining of Reis as part of the first-team set-up will no doubt raise further question marks over the futures of existing names within the defensive roster, with Pep Guardiola insisting that squad numbers will need to be trimmed down ahead of the season’s start.

John Stones’ worrying fitness record over the last 24 months has led to the Englishman being one name whose future has been thrown into significant doubt, although there are yet to be any concrete movements made towards the players in terms of a transfer.

Elsewhere and Kyle Walker will be out of the club this summer with all parties continuing work on sounding out a move for the right-back, who was rejected by AC Milan over a permanent move to San Siro off the back of a six-month loan spell last season.
