Manchester City currently have a host of players out due to injury. One of those is their top scorer, Erling Haaland. The Norwegian international sustained an ankle injury during his team’s 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Pep Guardiola revealed last week that Haaland’s return wasn’t imminent. But images shared by Haaland indicate that is edging closer to a return to the pitch.
CityXtra has shared via their official X account that Haaland is gradually edging closer to a return to the pitch. The images, which can be seen below, show Haaland is back in boots and that could indicate that he is stepping up his efforts to return to training. Any news is good news in regards to Haaland’s progress. He has been pictured stepping up his recovery work recently and it appears that he has begun the next phase of his recovery from the ankle injury he sustained.
Injuries have been a common theme for Manchester City this season. Rodri has missed the vast majority of this season due to the ACL injury he sustained in September. Oscar Bobb’s season has been wrecked by injury. Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, John Stones and Manuel Akanji have all missed significant periods of this season due to injury. Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden have also struggled with fitness issues throughout the season. It has been a tough season on the injury front for Pep Guardiola’s side and perhaps Manchester City may need to have a slightly bigger squad next season in case the same issues arise next season.
But it does appear they Erling Haaland is edging closer to a return to the pitch. The hope is that he can return before this season ends and help his team.
