Manchester City winger Jack Grealish could be on the move next summer.
The 29-year-old has dropped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola, and he could look to move elsewhere to resurrect his future.
Man City have struggled badly in 2024-25 and are fighting to get into the top four. They could be ready to make some bold decisions in the summer and may get rid of some of their high earners who have underperformed.
Grealish has barely featured in 2025. He joined City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a fee of around £100m and played a big part in the club’s success, winning three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
However, the Man City winger has fallen out of favour in Guardiola’s squad, and has struggled to nail down a regular first-team place. He has missed out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad as well.
AC Milan already have City and England defender Kyle Walker on loan, and they are eyeing a summer move for Grealish.
According to Sunday Mirror (page 77), the Rossonerri prefers to take Grealish on loan with a view to a permanent transfer. However, they would also consider a permanent deal at £40m, which Italian sources believe City would be prepared to accept.
Grealish has attracted interest from Newcastle United, with The Chronicle recently claiming that he has been offered a move to St James’ Park.
The newspaper wrote: “And sources close to the player have told the Chronicle that the player is open to a move to Tyneside. Grealish and his camp believe Eddie Howe’s management style will help him back to form in a crucial season which finishes with a World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.”
Former Man City midfielder Didi Hamman has said recently that Grealish should leave if Guardiola stays in charge.
He said: “I think his situation at City will probably depend on what the manager does. I think if Guardiola were to depart, there might be a chance he’d stay. If the manager stays, I think he most certainly will go.”
Grealish has a contract at Etihad Stadium until 2027, but it appears that City are ready to offload him if they get a decent price.
However, he may have to reduce his £300k-per-week wages if he wants to continue playing either in the Premier League or elsewhere.
