PUMA and Manchester City have confirmed the launch date of their highly-anticipated 2025/26 away shirt with a teaser video dropping on social media on Wednesday.
The summer months often bring a flurry of anticipation not just for new signings and pre-season fixtures, but also for new kit releases — and City supporters have now received official confirmation of when they can get their hands on the club’s newest away strip.
With the 2025/26 campaign fast approaching, City and long-standing kit manufacturers PUMA have ramped up excitement across social platforms, releasing a short teaser clip on Wednesday to preview the upcoming design.
Although the video gives little away in terms of a clear colour scheme or design features, the club’s creative direction in recent seasons suggests another bold look could be on the horizon, while leaks of the design have been surfacing online for a number of weeks and months.
Over recent years, Manchester City’s away shirts have often struck a balance between heritage and innovation. Recent designs have seen inspiration taken from the red-and-black stripes of the 1960s, proving to be a fan favourite.
Meanwhile, global kit drops are increasingly being tied to wider marketing strategies and storytelling campaigns – a trend PUMA and Manchester City continue to embrace.
Now, as confirmed by both Manchester City and PUMA this week, the 2025/26 away shirt to be won by all of the Etihad Stadium’s squads during the forthcoming season will become available for purchase on Friday 18 July.
This season’s kit launch also marks the first shirt unveiled under City’s new long-term agreement with PUMA, signed earlier this week. The renewed partnership — widely reported to be one of the most lucrative in Premier League history — is expected to be worth around £100 million per year, taking the overall value to £1 billion across it’s 10-season duration.
City Football Group and PUMA first began their relationship in 2019, and the latest extension reflects the commercial success and global impact of the collaboration. In addition to City, PUMA will continue to supply kits across CFG’s global portfolio of clubs including Melbourne City, Girona, and New York City FC, deepening their presence in multiple markets.
The new contract further cements the sporting brand’s connection to Manchester City’s broader identity and global reach, and fans can expect greater integration between club culture, performance gear, and streetwear in the coming years.
The new away kit could be worn for the first time during Manchester City’s pre-season schedule, which begins with a clash against fellow CFG side Palermo in Sicily on Saturday 9 August.
Beyond the first team, the new away shirt will also be donned by Manchester City’s various Academy and Women’s teams, continuing the club’s approach of unifying all squads under a shared identity across the season.
While official images of the 2025/26 away strip are yet to be revealed, leaks and speculation have suggested a predominantly black strip with silver or white features for accents, sponsorships, and the club’s badge.
