Manchester United are reportedly looking to spend big on RB Leipzig's Xavi Simons and Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha as part of their summer rebuild.

After a bitterly disappointing campaign, United are expected to be incredibly active in the summer transfer window as they seek to build a squad which is better-suited to the demands of new head coach Ruben Amorim.

Scouts have clearly been hard at work in Germany. Half of their four-man striker shortlist comes from the Bundesliga and now reports have added two more talents from the country's top flight to the radar.

First up, Sky Sports Germany name Simons as a summer target for United. An attacking midfielder who can play in a number of different positions is a key demand from Amorim and 21-year-old Simons has been identified as a potential option.

The main issue here, however, is the cost of any such deal. Leipzig are prepared to demand upwards of €80m (£67m) to part ways with Simons, who only joined the club permanently in January after 18 months on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

It has been reported that United are prepared to spend big this summer, with their transfer budget also likely to be boosted by sales. Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is among those who could leave to raise funds.

Further back on the team sheet, United want another natural midfielder and BILD name Nmecha as a surprise candidate for a move which could cost the Red Devils around €47.8m (£40m).

Dortmund do not want to sell Nmecha, formerly of Manchester City, whatsoever but recognise their miserable domestic form could force them into some tricky decisions. Like United, Dortmund have slumped to 11th in the Bundesliga and face needing to sell players to make up for the likely loss of funds that comes with missing out on a spot in the Champions League.

United now want to take advantage of Dortmund's struggles and could offer Nmecha the chance to fill the space in the squad which will soon be vacated by Christian Eriksen, who has publicly admitted he expects to leave this summer.
