Manchester United, Everton, West Ham United and Bournemouth will travel across the Atlantic this summer, representing the Premier League in the latest edition of the Summer Series. With fixtures set for Atlanta, New Jersey, and Chicago, the tournament offers a mix of commercial opportunity and competitive preparation ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
While these clubs might not be the ones competing for the Premier League title, they represent a cross-section of English football’s global ambitions. The financial powerhouses, the mid-table battlers, and the ever-aspiring sides all heading stateside to strengthen their brands, expand their reach, and, ideally, fine-tune their squads.
Manchester United will open their tour against West Ham in New Jersey on July 26, before facing Bournemouth in Chicago on July 30. Their final game comes against Everton in Atlanta on August 3. This trip to the United States follows a post-season excursion to Malaysia and Hong Kong, where United anticipate generating $10 million (£7.9m) in revenue.

The possibility of an additional fixture in San Diego at the Snapdragon Stadium remains on the table. Given that Snapdragon is the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor, a match at the venue would serve both commercial and competitive interests. However, concerns around fixture congestion in pre-season persist, with players already managing fatigue from the previous campaign.
Bournemouth’s presence in the Summer Series aligns with their ongoing American expansion efforts. Owner Bill Foley, who also controls the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL, has been keen to establish the club’s footprint in the U.S. market. With USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams and promising American youngster Matai Akinmboni in their squad, the Cherries have clear pathways to attract a growing American fanbase.

Everton, meanwhile, have seen their ownership structure shift in recent months following the takeover by The Friedkin Group (TFG) in December. Their participation in the tournament could serve as an opportunity to strengthen ties with their new American stakeholders and demonstrate the club’s marketability in a key financial territory.
The Summer Series follows directly after the FIFA Club World Cup, which runs until July 13 and includes Chelsea and Manchester City. The United States will also host the Gold Cup between June 14 and July 6, making the country a major hub for international football this summer.
This will be the second edition of the Summer Series, after its debut in 2023. The 2024 tournament was cancelled due to logistical difficulties, but the league remains committed to increasing its presence in North America. The first edition saw Brentford, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Fulham, and Brighton participate, with Chelsea finishing top of the standings.
With interest in the Premier League surging in the United States, this pre-season competition presents an opportunity to engage American fans during a relatively quiet period in European football.
While results may not be the priority, the tour will allow clubs to assess new signings, experiment tactically, and build momentum ahead of the new campaign. Commercially, it reinforces the Premier League’s status as the world’s most marketable football competition.
