Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday saw the Red Devils record a new unwanted record for their slow start to the season.
In what was an undeniably low-quality affair, Bruno Fernandes' penalty was cancelled out by Moises Caicedo's impressive strike as both sides were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
The draw leaves United on just 12 points from their first ten games of the season. Never before have the Red Devils picked up so few points after ten matches in a Premier League campaign, while this is also their lowest return since the 1986/87 season yielded just eight points.
The 1986/87 season saw United finish 11th in the First Division in the first year under new manager Alex Ferguson.
Back with the current crop, United's return of nine goals from ten league games is their fewest since 1973/74, when they also found the back of the net just nine times. Goalkeeper Alex Stepney was the joint-top scorer by Christmas that year with two strikes, with United ultimately relegated from the top flight just six years after winning the European Cup.
Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has two more matches in charge before passing over to Ruben Amorim. The Dutchman will oversee Thursday's Europa League clash with PAOK before seeking to end his Premier League stint on a high with a visit from the same Leicester City side he beat 5-2 in his debut.
