Manchester City have won four successive home matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Wolves winning only one of 12 visits to the Sky Blues since 1999, beaten during ten of them.
Will Manchester City's winning streak continue? Last Sunday, the Sky Blues reached a third successive FA Cup Final, swatting aside Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Wembley, with Rico Lewis and then Joško Gvardiol the scorers. Pep Guardiola's team will now be overwhelming favourites to beat Crystal Palace in the final in just 15 days time, salvaging silverware from an otherwise disappointing season.
Meantime, in the Premier League, the Sky Blues sit fourth following three consecutive victories, most-recently defeating Aston Villa 2-1 at home, with Matheus Nunes slotting home a stoppage time winner. After this, Man City's remaining fixtures are Southampton (A), Bournemouth (H) and Fulham (A), hence why most are expecting the Citizens will cruise to a top five finish from here on out.
This Friday night fixture, though, will not be easy, considering Wolverhampton Wanderers are the form team across all of Europe right now. Last weekend, Wolves won again, this time swatting aside Leicester 3-0 at Molineux, with Matheus Cunha, Jørgen Strand Larsen and then Rodrigo Gomes all scoring in a rout. So, following wins over Southampton, West Ham, Ipswich, Spurs and Man United, Wolves have therefore enjoyed six successive victories in the top-flight for the first time in 55 years.
When Vítor Pereira arrived, the Old Gold were in the relegation zone, but now they find themselves 13th, a whopping 20 points clear of the drop. So, can Wolves pull off a massive upset on Friday night by continuing that winning streak and massively denting Man City's Champions League chances?
Nathan Aké and John Stones remain sidelined although, in much better news, both Rodri and Erling Braut Håland are back in training, albeit neither are expected to feature just yet. Ederson was back on the bench at Wembley, so will he feature for the first time in three weeks, following a hip injury?
Elsewhere, this will be Kevin De Bruyne's penultimate match at the Etihad so, having been an unused substitute for the FA Cup semi-final, he'll be hoping for greater involvement this time.
Manchester City predicted lineup vs Wolverhampton Wanderers: (4-3-3): Ortega; Nunes, Rúben Dias, Gvardiol, O'Reilly; Gündoğan, Kovačić, Silva, De Bruyne Doku; Marmoush.
All six of Omar Marmoush's Premier League goals have been scored at the Etihad so, in the continued absence of Håland, will the Egyptian be Man City's main man for goals?
Meanwhile, given Wolves' winning streak, there's no reason for Vítor Pereira to change anything. Thus, an unchanged XI is forecast, featuring Matt Doherty at the back, chosen over Santiago Bueno.
Wolverhampton Wanderers predicted lineup vs Manchester City: (3-4-2-1): José Sá; Doherty, Agbadou, Toti; Semedo, André, João Gomes, Aït-Nouri; Munetsi, Strand Larsen, Cunha.
Matheus Cunha took his tally to 17 goals for the season last Saturday, scoring seven in his last nine appearances, so will he continue this spree?
Despite Wolves' winning streak, we are backing Manchester City for victory on Friday night, moving the Citizens up to third, clear of chasing pack: Manchester City 3-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers.
