James McAtee was the hat-trick hero as Manchester City romped into the fourth round of the FA Cup by dismantling Salford City 8-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
City raced out of the blocks, taking the lead after just four minutes through Jeremy Doku, and were cruising after 20 minutes when Divin Mubama doubled the advantage.
Nico O'Reilly extended the lead before the half-time interval, turning home smartly into the bottom corner after a fine and pass from the impressive Doku.
Jack Grealish won a penalty minutes into the second half and dusted himself down to convert from 12 yards - his first goal of the season - before McAtee took centre stage.
The attacking midfielder turned home Doku's cross brilliantly to make it five for City, before the latter extended the advantage after winning another penalty - Salford defender Curtis Tilt penalised for handling Doku's goalbound shot.
McAtee scored twice before the final whistle, rounding off a brilliant performance from City against a side hoping to go up from League Two as champions.
