Mamadou Sarr joins Chelsea | OneFootball

Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace has made Mamadou Sarr’s transfer to Chelsea official.

By signing one of the great prospects in his position from Olympique Lyonnais last summer, Racing made a major splash in the transfer market. After a few weeks of acclimatization, the central defender made his first start against Lille last September (3-3).

Putting in a remarkable performance, he has made 28 appearances for Racing, including 27 starts in Ligue 1. He is only the second defender under the age of twenty to reach such a number of starts in a single season in the top flight with the club, after Marcel Lazarus in 1966-1967 (31). Impressively mature, his progress and consistency have made him a key player for Racing this season. The 32-time French youth international now joins Chelsea, the recent winner of the UEFA Conference League and a side who have qualified for the next edition of the Champions League.
