Antony is keen to continue plying his trade with Real Betis next season despite garnering interest from other clubs across Europe.

The La Liga outfit allowed Antony the opportunity to reignite the most prolific version of himself in January following a lacklustre two seasons at Manchester United. In fairness to him, his £86 million price tag had every performance of his cast under the microscope from the off.

Now, the out-of-favour Red wants to repay the faith granted to him by rebuffing all other approaches and biding his time to seal another move to the Villamarin Stadium.

Whilst United supporters await long-term clarification on Antony’s future, he has been the subject of an undisclosed offer from Serie A rookies Como, who’ve just enjoyed a stellar campaign under Spanish legend Cesc Fabregas.

The former midfielder guided the club, which he’s a part-owner of, to a 10th-placed finish in the league. Raphael Varane was expected to play an integral role at the heart of Como’s defence when he signed as a free agent after his United release last year, but his unrelenting injury woes prompted him to pull the curtains on an illustrious playing career and hang up his boots just a month into the season.

Nonetheless, Fabregas will now have to pursue alternative targets to Antony, as MundoDeportivo has confirmed the player has his sights firmly fixed on Betis — so much so that he is willing to take a 30 per cent pay cut to rubber stamp the transfer.

Manchester Evening News has also revealed that in order for the Reds not to take a PSR hit, they will have to recuperate around £32.58m from the Brazilian’s sale.

Real Betis is a suitable step for Antony after Premier League struggles

The 25-year-old looked a shadow of the player United first signed by the time his loan departure came around. Then, a matter of weeks into his new venture, he became a player reborn under Manuel Pellegrini.

He was an instant hit with the Los Verdiblancos faithful too — as well as the often hard-to-please press; he was hailed as ‘magical’ by one Spanish outlet after his opening displays in green and white.
