Magdeburg’s Christian Titz in talks to become Schalke’s new head coach | OneFootball

Sky Germany reports that Schalke are in talks with Magdeburg head coach Christian Titz over becoming their new head coach in the summer.

Schalke have been linked with Markus Anfang as their new head coach following the departure of Kees van Wonderen before the end of the season. However, they have gone in a different direction.

Talks with Titz took place several weeks ago, but recently they have become more concrete in their interest. The Magdeburg head coach is now considered the top candidate for the role. Schalke will have to pay Magdeburg a fee of €500k to release the coach from his contract.

Titz had received enquiries from a number of clubs in England and the 2.Bundesliga, but wanted to move back to North Rhine-Westphalia, as his family lives near Neuss, which is across the Rhine river from Düsseldorf.

Whoever does take charge of Schalke are in with a monumental task to try and revive a fallen giant who has been languishing in the bottom half of the 2.Bundesliga since their relegation from the Bundesliga, whilst also struggling from a financial aspect as well.
