Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah undergoes operation following ACL injury | OneFootball

According to report from Agence France Presse Lyon winger Ernest Numah (21) has undergone an operation on Tuesday morning following an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee. Medical sources have reported that the surgery was performed at a private hospital by Dr Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet.The Ghanian international season looks definitively finished, after he ruptured his ACL during the first five minutes of Lyon’s match against Lille earlier this month. Lyon’s medical stuff feared the injury would be serious – and it proved to be the case. “OL gives its full support to Ernest and will do everything possible to enable him to return in the best possible conditions”, said the club in a statement in the week following the injury. Given the nature of his injury, the Ghana international is expected to miss the first few months of the 2025-2026 season.Lyon travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford this Thursday in the Europa League quarter-finals, with the tie delicately poised at 2-2 on aggregate.GFFN | George Boxall
