According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique Lyonnais would be interested in Paulo Fonseca succeeding current head coach Pierre Sage. The French outlet writes that there has been contact between Lyon and the former AC Milan and Lille OSC head coach.
After two seasons in Ligue 1 with Lille OSC, Paulo Fonseca left the country last summer following the end of his contract. The Portuguese head coach was the target for Olympique de Marseille and AC Milan but chose the Serie A side over Les Phocéens.
It would be a return to Italy for a manager who had spent two seasons with AS Roma before joining Lille. Fonseca had led Roma to a fifth-place finish in his first season and seventh in his second but also led the club to the Europa League semi-finals in his final year.
His stay at Milan would be brief. The manager was sacked in December following a poor run of results that left the club in eighth and 14 points off the top spot.
