It has been a busy summer for the Hatters, with Carlton Morris the high-profile departure so far, as the striker sealed a move to Derby County.

Even with Nahki Wells arriving at Kenilworth Road, Luton will know that they need to add further attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.

And, it appears Al-Hamadi is on their radar, as TWTD confirmed that Luton are tracking the 23-year-old.

However, they explain that a deal isn’t going to be imminent, as Ipswich are currently short on strikers themselves right now following Liam Delap’s big-money move to Ipswich.

That leaves George Hirst and Al-Hamadi as the two senior number nines at the club, so any outgoing would only be sanctioned when new signings have arrived.

But, Al-Hamadi has struggled to make his mark in Kieran McKenna’s side since his January arrival from AFC Wimbledon in 2024.

The Iraq international scored four goals as Ipswich won promotion that season, but he failed to find the net in the Premier League last season, although his 11 outings did come from the bench.

Al-Hamadi joined Stoke City in January, but he found it tough at the Bet365 Stadium, scoring twice in 15 Championship games for Mark Robins’ side before returning to Suffolk for pre-season with Ipswich.

Ali Al-Hamadi would be a shrewd signing for Luton Town

One of the priorities for Bloomfield right now is finding a new striker, and Al-Hamadi would tick a lot of boxes for the club.

Firstly, he should be capable of scoring goals at that level, as he has spent the past few years in the top two tiers, and whilst he hasn’t been consistent, dropping to League One could get him back scoring on a regular basis.

As well as that, Al-Hamadi has the physicality that Luton might be lacking up top following Morris’ exit, especially as Elijah Adebayo is going to miss a major chunk of the season due to his knee injury.

Al-Hamadi has the presence to be that focal point, and that is exactly what a player like Wells needs, so you could see a promising partnership forming between the two.

Ipswich’s stance is totally understandable, and Luton, or any other club, will have to wait until later in the window for Al-Hamadi to become available.
