Brentford Women B were defeated 7-2 by Luton Town Reserves in Greater London Premier Division action on Sunday.

Heading north for the fixture, the Bees scored their first league goals of the campaign, Holly Hawkes and Orla McComb able to find the back of the net in an improved performance.

Yannawit Khantharat’s side started strong and dominated the opening five minutes at Stockwood Park Academy.

Despite their early dominance, it was Luton who managed to strike first, scoring the opening two goals of the contest.

The Bees came close to halving the deficit soon after, as Lillie Elsbury crossed the ball into Abigail Claringbold, however, her shot went wide of the goal.

Claringbold came close to scoring again, this time from a Hawkes’ cross, but the shot went over the bar.

Despite some dominance across the middle stages of the first half, it was Luton who found the back of the net next, as back-to-back goals made it 4-0 as the half-time break approached.

The Bees went into the break with some confidence, as Claringbold, Chelsie Berry and Hawkes combined, with the latter finding the back of the net to make it 4-1.

Coming out of half-time, it was the home side who struck first, as a cross from the left side fell to the back post and was struck home to make it 5-1.

Brentford continued to attack despite the scoreline, with their developing chemistry on show as Berry won the ball back and found McComb who scored her first goal of the season.

Despite some promising play, it was Luton who finished the better of the two sides, as they were able to score two more goals before the final whistle.

Speaking after the game, Khantharat was happy with his side’s improved defending on set pieces, giving away no goals in that area of the game, having leaked four from set pieces last time out: "Despite conceding goals, we can see a lot of positives and improvement as individuals and a team."

New Brentford B players Amanda Calabrese (90 minutes) and Ella Payne (75 minutes) also received valuable minutes as they begin their Brentford careers.
