Brazilian forward Lucas Moura will sever ties with Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season after five years at the club.

According to Spurs’ official website, the 30-year-old will not renew his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after tumbling down the pecking order.

Moura joined Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain for £23 million in January 2018 and has since made 219 appearances in all competitions, netting 38 goals.

His most memorable moment at the London outfit came in the 2018/19 Champions League semi-finals as he came off the bench to score a hat-trick away to Ajax and catapult his side into the grand final.

But a series of injury setbacks, which followed the former Sao Paulo winger during his time in England’s capital, has halted his progress in the Premier League.

Recurring injury problems have seen Moura make only 13 top-flight appearances for Tottenham this season without making a single goal contribution.

After losing his first-team status, the experienced forward has recently stepped up to play for Tottenham’s under-21 squad, netting three times in four outings.

Despite joining Spurs as one of the most highly-rated wingers in Europe’s top-five leagues, his fall from grace has somewhat turned him into a forgotten figure.

A lack of high-profile suitors could see him returning to his homeland in the summer to ensure regular first-team football following a torrid season at Tottenham.

While Moura will soon become part of Spurs’ past, the Londoners are already planning for the future as they’ve entered the race to sign Gent striker Gift Orban.

However, signing a new permanent manager remains a priority for Daniel Levy, whose bid to persuade Xabi Alonso to leave Bayer Leverkusen has fallen flat.

It’s up to caretaker boss Ryan Mason to help Tottenham secure European qualification for next season, with Spurs sitting seventh in the Premier League table, level on points with eighth-placed Aston Villa.

After last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Villa Park, they return to action on Saturday when mid-table Brentford arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for an all-London showdown.
