London City Lionesses have completed the signing of defender Maddi Wilde on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this afternoon.

Wilde has signed a two-year contract with London City Lionesses while the club hold the option to extend the arrangement by a further year. The 20-year-old joins The Pride following her release by former club Bristol City.

London City Lionesses fans will be well-aware of Wilde’s qualities. The player enjoyed a season-long loan with the club last season. The full-back made 19 appearances for The Pride in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored one goal. Wilde will now be hoping to build on her London City Lionesses career after joining the club on a permanent basis.

After signing on with London City Lionesses, Wilde said “I had conversations with the Club over the summer and they were all really positive.

“After last season, I could see the steps that were being taken behind the scenes, with Michele [Kang] pushing standards forward, and I knew that I wanted to be part of this environment again.

“With all the changes that are happening at the training ground, it shows that we’re really investing in the project and that we’re going to be in the best position to fight for promotion this time.”

Wilde becomes London City Lionesses’ second signing of the summer transfer window.
