Brentford winger Michael Olakigbe scored his first Wigan Athletic goal as the Latics beat Carlisle United 2-0 in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.

Olakigbe darted down the left and his shot found its way past the Carlisle keeper, as he netted the second goal of the game at Brunton Park.

Prior to that, the 20-year-old played 45 minutes in a 0-0 draw against Stockport County on Saturday, replacing Callum McManaman at half-time.

Elsewhere in the EFL, Myles Peart-Harris played 90 minutes as Swansea City were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield United last week, when he played as a centre-forward.

He then featured for the final 14 minutes of Luke Williams' side's 0-0 draw with Stoke City on Saturday.

Tristan Crama, on loan at Exeter City, played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Leyton Orient, but the centre-back was unavailable for Saturday's 1-0 win over Cambridge United - his first missed minutes of the campaign.

Centre-midfielder Frank Onyeka played the whole game for Ausburg in their 2-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Nigeria international made four tackles to help the Bundesliga side record their second victory of the season.

In Scotland, Ellery Balcombe played 90 minutes between the sticks for St Mirren, as they were beaten 1-0 by Dundee United. The goalkeeper has played every minute for the Scottish Premiership side this term.

Balcombe's goalkeeping team-mate Ben Winterbottom was an unused substitute for AFC Fylde as they beat Aldershot 5-2 in the National League.
