Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has become the latest player to reveal his delight for Real Madrid defender David Alaba.
This, of course, comes after the Austrian international secured his long-awaited return to the pitch.
Real Madrid were back in action on Sunday evening, welcoming Las Palmas to the Spanish capital in the knowledge that a victory would see them climb to the top of the La Liga table.
And, en route to an eventual 4-1 triumph for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, David Alaba was introduced off the bench during the 2nd-half.
The former Bayern Munich man had not featured in a competitive setting for almost 400 days, owing to an ACL injury suffered late in 2023.
But Alaba was all smiles after seeing out the closing stages of yesterday’s action with minimal fuss.
Messages of support and congratulations, in turn, have since come pouring in for the 32-year-old, chiefly on the part of his Real Madrid teammates.
And, as alluded to above, adding his name to this list late on Sunday night was one of world football’s very best stoppers.
Taking to the comments section of Alaba’s post-match Instagram post, Liverpool standout Virgil van Dijk responded simply with an applause emoji:
