Luis Diaz Should Stay at Liverpool – Unless £75m Comes In

Luis Diaz was vital to Liverpool’s title-winning season under Arne Slot. With Darwin Nunez underperforming and Diogo Jota inconsistent, Diaz took charge. He proved he could operate not only on the left but also through the middle, becoming Liverpool’s most reliable forward during key stretches of the campaign. He was direct, relentless and often sparked attacking moves at crucial moments.

Slot’s decision to use Diaz as a central striker was more than experimental. It showed faith in his work rate and positional flexibility. While his finishing still needs improvement, Diaz brought drive and purpose. Until Liverpool sign a new centre-forward, he remains indispensable.

Bayern’s Bid Falls Short

Bayern Munich have already tested Liverpool’s resolve with a modest offer. Reported bids of around £40million, even with add-ons, fall well short of Diaz’s value. Liverpool were right to reject it.

There is no urgency to sell. The Colombian has two years left on his contract and, contrary to earlier reports, is earning about £140,000 per week. While he may not be overjoyed with his current situation, he is not causing unrest either. Liverpool do not need to be pressured into a sale unless the offer reaches around £75million.

Diaz Holds Value for Another Season

Letting Diaz go now would leave Liverpool short in attack, particularly with Jota and Nunez both potentially leaving. With major summer spending already on Frimpong, Wirtz and Kerkez, there is little reason to cash in early unless a huge offer is made.

Keeping Diaz one more season helps maintain depth and experience. Even next summer, he will still command a strong fee. He is 28, still in his prime, and another good campaign could increase his value.

Right Move is Patience

Liverpool have handled similar contract and transfer situations before. They must remain firm with Diaz. He wants to play, he performs when called upon and still fits the system. Unless a £75million bid arrives, the smartest move is to keep him in red for at least one more year.
